Getting and keeping a dog means taking on a great responsibility. To make the task of keeping a dog a little easier for all (future) dog owners, Coya created the Dog City Index last year. We collected as much data as possible about the world of dogs in order to show which cities are best suited for keeping a four-legged friend.
To get the data, we commissioned a study. The result is a list of 50 cities around the globe that are considered good locations for dogs. To give you a brief overview of the most important results, we created an infographic. Here you can see, among other things, the cities with the highest number of dogs (per 1,000 inhabitants), where you would find the highest housing costs, and an overview of the most dog-friendly cities in Germany, the EU, and worldwide.
Amount of dogs (per 1,000 inhabitants)
The largest share of dog-friendly hotels is in Munich
The most dog parks you can find Melbourne
Milan offers the highest density of veterinarians
Top 3 of the dog-friendliest cities in Germany
Top 3 of the dog-friendliest cities in Europe
Top 3 of the dog-friendliest cities in World
You may find the complete dog city index with all results and further details here. We hope you (and your four-legged friend) have a lot of fun with it!
